App Development

Josh started getting into iOS development in 2016 shortly after having completed an introductory Computer Science course through Harvard University. Josh then was introduced to Xcode and the two main languages used in iOS development, Objective-C and Swift. It was at that moment; Josh decided that developing iPhone and iPad apps was what he wanted to do. Starting with Objective-C, Josh swiftly moved over to Swift and found it to be the more suitable and broadly utilized choice across the board. After four years, Josh managed to produce several different apps ranging from simple calculation applications to applications incorporating technologies such as machine learning and even augmented reality.

Josh has grown in leaps and bounds, but his development journey doesn't end there. As of July 2020, Josh has invested in time and education to transition over to cross-platform app development using Google's Flutter. Now the limitations of just the Apple market are no more. Being able to cater to the Apple as well as the Android market has opened up a lot more opportunities and potential.

The next logical step was to start a business. That's exactly what Josh has done. Keep an eye out for some great productivity apps to hit the market. Web Development

Josh's exposure to web development goes a bit further back than his app development exposure. He began learning the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, JS, and SQL in 2013, continuing through 2015 when he studied Computer Science and IT in South Africa. Despite having learned a lot in those three years of studies, Josh endeavored to broaden his skill set by learning and pursuing mobile application development. Nevertheless, when 2020 came around, there were a few web development opportunities that arose. So, Josh decided to relearn, update some old skills and build upon them by jumping right into learning Bootstrap & experimenting with jQuery.

Josh has regained his confidence in web development and is now more than capable of producing professional and efficient business-level websites for clients. Feel free to browse through his entire freelancer website as well as his business website. They may each be built on top of Bootstrap templates as a foundation, however, all the customization & interactivity was all him.

Investing

For many years now, Josh has dabbled in trading cryptocurrencies and common stocks. It has become apparent that trading cannot be confused with investing. Josh has grown in his understanding of the market and its fluctuations. He is no longer seeking quick optimistic and unrealistic returns. He understands that no one can accurately and consistently predict exactly when a particular market or stock will go up or down.

Josh now focuses on long-term portfolio investments and financial education and is soon to be working on passive income through real estate investments. Rugby most of all - sevens and touch are Josh's preferences when it comes to playing. He also enjoys playing social soccer, squash, and table tennis. He'd probably enjoy anything fast-paced, very competitive, and requires a lot of coordination & agility.

Josh has played each of the mentioned instruments for many years. He's self-taught and plays by ear. Sorry, no sheet music. Believe it or not, he can also sing a little. He's mostly played in Praise & Worship teams and Christian bands. Now, playing and singing are more of a hobby. Though, watching and listening to other artists is still a big part of Josh's life.
